5 reasons why you have to own a dog

5 reasons why you have to own a dog

Here are 5 reasons why you humans should get a dog:

  1. Dogs do not care what you look like.
  2. Dogs make you get some exercise.
  3. Dogs do not correct your stories.
  4. Dogs do not criticise your driving.
  5. Dogs enjoy the way you sing.

To all the Dog Father’s…

Happy Father's Day

Father’s Day comes around once a year and in dognition of all the Dog Father’s, here are 5 reasons why us dogs have a special bond with our human Dads:

  1. We get to play ruff n tumble and have plenty of fun!
  2. HuDads and treats are the most impawtant things in our lives, although not necessarily in that order.
  3. Thanks for taking us on long walks and adventures galore.
  4. You let us lick your hands, or even lick your face – despite the fact that we may have licked ourselves in every private place.
  5. It’s okay that you blame your farts on us sometimes…

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

To my very own Dog Father: I’m so lucky because you’re my HuDad and best friend. You really are top dog Dad!

Learn a lesson from your dog

If you are as lucky as me, then your human takes time and pride in training you in all things dog. BUT there might be a few things us dogs can teach you humans about life.  This is a special guest post from my human, Michelle. Over to you Michelle…

Simple pleasures in life – Michelle throwing stones in the sea for me!

Thanks Rubes!

Have you ever thought about how a dog finds every day life exciting? I can be cheered on by Ruby’s enthusiasm for the simple pleasures in life. She can’t wait to go for a walk, go swimming, play with her ball, chase sticks, eat, see you come home or chill out until the next great activity. When we are happy, we spread positivity to everyone around us.

Dogs do not care if we are rich or poor. Just like us humans, all they want is food, a roof over their heads and love. They do not care if your hair is a mess or you have put on a few pounds! You will go through life together, your dog will be your pal no matter what.

Ruby inspires me. Why? She shows me how to be a better person. There is no worrying about what could have been or fretting about the future. Ruby lives in the moment – right here, right now and on her walk just about sniffs everything! On-going stress can be bad for your health, why not take time to find ways to destress – enjoy that dog walk (try being mindful and present).

Have you ever stepped on your dogs tail or got home from work late and skipped taking them for a walk? I have been guilty of this, but Ruby does not stay mad or hold a grudge. Maybe our human relationships would improve, if we were quicker to forgive.

Dogs know when you feel a bit down or depressed and what do they do? They sit by you or rest their head on you. They are just there – a paw to cry on.

So if you ever feel a bit blue or things are not quite going the right way, maybe it is time to learn a lesson from your dog:

no matter what life brings you, kick some grass over that shit and move on.

I don’t think my human could put it anymore bluntly than that! I hope you humans can learn some life lessons from us dogs!  I would love to hear what you think about my blog – leave me a comment on the blog, like me on facebook follow me on bloglovin’ or twoof me @rubys_rambles on Twitter.

Halloween dog safety tips

image

Calling all blood hounds…

Howloween can be a fun time for all the family, but can also be a stressful time for us dogs. Scary costumes, unfamiliar sights and strange sounds are enough to make us quiver! Here are my top tips for ensuring dogs and humans have a happy and safe Howloween.

Top Tips:

  1. Do not keep lit pumpkins around dogs – we do not want to risk the chance of being burned, so remember to keep them safely out the way. Note: Human moved the pumpkin candle out of the way after she got the picture.
  2. Beware of bewitching treats for goblin down – remember trick or treat candies are not for dogs. Chocolate can be toxic to dogs.
  3. Take care when opening the door to trick or treaters – your dog may escape if frightened by scary costumes.
  4. Do not dress you dog in a costume, unless they do not mind it – avoid covering the eyes, nose and ears.
  5. Idle jaws are the devils work – a bored dog is a destructive dog, keep some safe toys around for your dogs to play with and chew on.

Blowy walk on the beach

P1020387

There is nothing better than going for a salty, blowy, Sunday walk along the beach with my mates.  Ensuring the humans were wrapped up warm, the dog mob ventured off to explore the musings of West Wittering beach. West Wittering is a sandy beach (so it’s easy on the paws) and has some great views across Chichester Harbour. This was an exciting Tweet up, as it was the first time my humans and I got to meet my fellow Twoofs! It would be easy to spend a whole day here at West Wittering!

Activities for your pooch at West Wittering beach:

  • Swimming and splashing in the sea

It is a fabulous place to go for a dog walk! Honey and Stanley enjoyed playing hide and seek with their human. Dougal’s HuDad had a handful keeping me and Dougal entertained with the ball. We got the Black Dog Bakery treats from Dougal’s HuMum, which are an absolute delight! Met Bella’s HuSister, who was super cute and very well-behaved! Olives Debbie Mum made us feel very welcome! I sniggered when Nero shook himself dry and got my human’s wet! I hope I get to meet up with my mates very soon!
